A green sea turtle snacking on a crown jellyfish. Balicasag Island, Philippines. Jellyfish are a favorite snack for sea turtles and typically they eat with their eyes closed to protect themselves from the stings. One of my earliest photos created.

Much of the culture and life in the Cordillera revolves around rice. From planting to harvest, each period represents a time that is honored and sacred in its own way. Rice is the staple crop for most of the Indigenous groups in this region and they have built some of the biggest and most advanced rice terraces in the world. These terraces represent an ancient and sustainable system for communal rice production. Cordillera, Philippines.

A leopard makes its way down a tree at night after feeding on a gazel. We came across this leopard two times and on the second encounter it made its way down the tree. A very beautiful big cat and an amazing encounter. Tanzania

The Milky Way seen from Mount Hamiguitan’s Pygmy or Bonsai Forest, a veritable Fern Gully with over 1,380 different species of animals and plants, 341 of them can only be found in the Philippines, 12 of them only on this mountain, and many thousands more still to be discovered. The secluded Mount Hamiguitan’s biological abundance despite adverse climate and soil conditions is a feat of nature’s fight to survive in any circumstances. It is the Mandaya people’s ancestral home, who dwell at the foot of the mountain.

Pygmy Forest

Lesser flamingos fly over the calm alkaline waters of Lake Logipi in Kenya’s Rift Valley. These seasonal waters are a favorite location for flamingos attracted by the blue-green algae upon which they feed.
